Our mission is to add grace, interest, and beauty to Yelm's streets and historic features.
YELM COMMUNITY SUMMER ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOW
The Yelm Area Business Association along with the Triad Arts Theater is delighted to present its First Annual Yelm Community Summer Arts and Crafts Show on September 10th - 11th, 2016.
The Show will be hosted at the splendidRe/Max Country courtyard in downtown Yelm. The outdoor courtyard is an ideal location with its flowing water fountain, tall cypress columns and Italian design, to take in the aesthetics of art, food, wine, friends and community.
The Yelm Business Association is proud to support the arts in Yelm. Introducing local artists to the community is part of the YBA goal of continued beautification of our city. Making Yelm a “destination” experience for the arts is one way of creating a more pleasant town, attracting business investment and increasing the quality of life. The Yelm Community Arts and Crafts Show is one of a number of Yelm Business Association’s community improvement projects.
If you are a local artist and would like to be featured in either the Summer or Winter Yelm Community Arts and Crafts Show, we would like to hear from you. Please contact the YBA Beautification Committee Chair, Steve Craig at 360-790-7490.
If you enjoyed last year’s dazzling Winter Show, featuring local award-winning artists such as Rory Sagner, Sandra Bocas, Marcia Keilee, J. Rick Poulsen, Leonie McTainsh, and others, you’ll want to be sure to join us again this year! Bring a friend along so that we can all associate with the arts in Yelm.
Join us on September 10th - 11th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. $25 entry fee... Make Art Matter!
Our mission is to interact directly with the residents of Yelm and the surrounding area in order to better our community.
TOWN HALL MEETINGS
We conducted our first town hall meeting on March 10. Turnout was fantastic at 61 people; our next steps are to consolidate all of the information that we gathered and to hand it over to Advocacy to present to the City of Yelm.
We will be scheduling a second town hall to discuss progress made by the City on the information that we give to them. Date TBD sometime in Q2 2015.
WINE AND FOOD FESTIVAL
We are in the preliminary stages of planning a Wine and Food Festival, tentatively scheduled for August 2015. We are researching requirements for permitting, and comparable projects by other cities.
Our mission is to interact directly with the City of Yelm's government in order to better our community.
MAIN STREET AFFILIATION
We are researching the requirements and possibility of affiliating with the National Main Street Center.
We are working with Thurston County Commissioner Sandra Romero to explore the world of municipal and county rule "overlays": alternatives or workarounds to existing code to encourage infill and local development.
